Carriages and Carriage Parts - There are actually 4 sizings of hook type tine carriages rated by the tine carriage hoisting capacity. Hook type fork carriages have been standardized.
The carriage bar spacing for Class 1 is more or less thirteen inches and the Class 1 carriage is rated to carry loads up to 2000lbs. The Class 2 carriage is rated to hold cargo up to 5,500lbs with carriage bar spacing of 16 inches. Class III carriages are rated for loads as much as 10,000 lbs. The carriage bar spacing for this class is 20 inches. Class IV carriages are rated for loads as much as 15,500 lbs. The carriage bar spacing utilized for this capacity is 25 inches.
The carriages for pin type forks could be different depending on the manufacturer. Pin mounted tines may differ by the amount of offset between the fork eye and the tine. Carriage capacity will be determined by the carriage pin size and by the blade size.
